If you have received a summons for an offence which is likely to give you 12 or more points on your licence and are looking for some legal help then we are here to listen and advise you – contact us today.
If you collect 12 or more penalty points within 3 years you are liable to be disqualified for a minimum of 6 months.
The 6 month disqualification period is increased to 12 months if you have been previously disqualified for 56 days or more within the 3 year period immediately preceding the commission of the latest offence. If you been disqualified two or more times for 56 days or more within the three year period immediately preceding the commission of the latest offence the minimum disqualification period is increased to two years.
If the court can be persuaded that there are “mitigating circumstances”, the court has a discretion to disqualify for a shorter period or not at all. See our Exceptional Hardship page for further details.
